Comparison

Below is a rough, broad view comparison of Ky between the major competitive releases of Guilty Gear. Note that as of this table's creation, Guilty Gear Strive is under active developer support and information on it can and will change over time.

 XXAC+R  Rev2  Strive
Strength Considered relatively weak. Generally around the bottom 1/3 of the cast. Widely considered to be top 5 Considered relatively weak. Generally around the bottom 1/3 of the cast.
Ease of Use Generally a good beginner character, but often gives mid level players trouble due to his dependence on tricky FRCs. Easy to pick up and effective at most levels of play. Frequently recommended to beginner players due to his emphasis on fundamentals. Generally fairly difficult to succeed with due to the limitations of his kit, reliance on Air Dash FDC and Shock state, and the early lifecycle emphasis on high tier characters.
Toolkit A large assortment of tools which are powerful in their specific niches. A relatively small list of moves which are generally extremely versatile and strong, boasting many straightforward applications. A simplified version of the Rev2 toolkit, but nerfed in many ways and with many favorable attributes gated behind shock state.
Misc Air Stun Edge FRC gives another jump which is really nifty. This character made especially noteworthy use of the Yellow Roman Cancel mechanic.
