Overview

The Unicorn Gundam is a simple 3000 cost unit that plays between its normal Unicorn and NT-D modes to dictate the pace of the match. In Unicorn mode, the unit is armed with decent ranged tools including a strong cartridge reload Beam Magnum and basic cancel routes including a good amekyan to supplement its mobility. The Unicorn's power spike within a match is enabled when NT-D comes online and in this mode, although your ranged tools do less damage overall; you gain fearsome melee capabilities and your overall mobility is improved along with a new main cancel route. The Unicorn also comes with the unique ability of being able to stop funnels using it's psycho jamming abilities in NT-D for a unique match-up advantage.

Lore:The white Mobile Suit product of the UC Project, the Earth Federations Space Forces' reorganization plan. The entire internal structure of the unit is built with psycho-frame technology, providing extraordinary control responsiveness. Furthermore, it has been installed with a special OS, the La+ Program, and the NT-D system. When the NT-D is activated, the Mobile Suit's internal frame expands, changing to Destroy Mode. While this mode is active, the overall specs of the Gundam, especially its mobility, are exponentially increased.

Playstyle
The Unicorn Gundam is a ranged specialist by default and melee specialist as NT-D activates.
Pros Cons
  • High damage ranged: With the Beam Magnum clocking in at 95 damage per shot with good proation, Unicorn's zundas and ranged attacks can rack up damage fast.
  • Funnel jamming: Activating NT-D or using Unicorn's BC in NTD stops all funnels in their tracks and freezes them, making them unusable for a time which is completely unique to Unicorn's kit and giving an edge in funnel match-ups.
  • Terrifying 8BD(NT-D): A high priority and extremely fast and long reaching boost dash melee. One of Unicorn's main tools to threaten during the match.
  • Beam Magnum cartridge: Being able to pump out an unlimited amount of Beam Magnum shots only delayed by occasional cartridge reloads allows Unicorn to play keep away while NT-D charges up.
  • Bad mobility in Unicorn mode: While being a bit floaty, having a slow boost dash speed and poor swerve rate, Unicorn's base mode is one of the slowest and heavier 3000 cost units in the bracket without NT-D.
  • Poor self defense: Coupled with Unicorn's bad base mobility in Unicorn mode, if a melee specialist gets within range, the Unicorn has an extremely hard time of running away because of its lack of tools and the only mobility supplement it has is its amekyan route.
  • NT-D transformation/time-out: Unicorn's forced transformation out of NT-D is difficult to control during a match and is crippling as the transformation is long and consumes a lot of boost which forces you to BD-cancel it, leading to more wasted boost.
  • Generic toolset: It's moveset borrows a lot of fundamental aspects from a lot of other all-rounder units, making the Unicorn's pressure and approaches fairly predictable with no gimmicks or stand-out features.
