Your Main Moves

Your Main Moves

These will be the main moves you'll be using in neutral. Proper use of each of them will let you control the pace of the match.

BnB Combo

5BBB > hjc > j.AAA > jc > j.AA > j.236B > 214A~B~ADay 1 BnB
Easy

The main BnB. They're variations of this combo for different situations and other combos for different starters but in most situations, this combo will work. The 214A~B~A at the end is to setup a safejump(see below) to continue pressure. When in the corner, cancel the last hit of 236B into j.214A>land>j.214A to get the safejump.

Oki

Oki

First, some terminology we'll be using. Okizeme is pressuring your opponent as they get up from a knockdown. A safejump is a meaty jump-in attack timed so if your opponent uses a reversal, your character will land and block in time. If they don't they'll get hit by your jump-in attack. This forces your opponent to block your attack which lets you continue pressure.

Ruby's main form of okizeme is through safejumps thanks to 214A. Midscreen, after the 214A ender, you can cover forward tech by jumping forward>j.B and neutral tech with IAD(Instant Air Dash)>j.B. You unfortunately can't cover back tech midscreen so use an long range assist.

In the corner, you can cover neutral and back tech with jump forward>j.B and forward tech with neutral jump>j.B.

Pressure

Pressure

Basic Blockstrings

5A>2A>5A>2A Decent stagger pressure string.Safe against pushblock, can be cancelled into throws, and 2A checks if the opponent isn't blocking low by default.

5A/5B>IAD/214B+assist This lets you easily get a sandwich which lets you get a left/right mix using active switch and cross combo.

Empty Jump

When doing a safejump, you'll be using j.B which hits overhead. Once you've conditioned the opponent to expect the safejump, you can mix them up with empty jump low/empty jump throw. (An empty jump is a mixup where instead of doing jump-in overhead, you land and do a low attack or throw.
